Brain Injuries Related to Falling

Monday, April 29, 2019, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Our guest speaker, Nicole Chambers, currently serves as the Resource Center Operations Manager for the Brain Injury Alliance of Washington. She began her career working with the brain injury community in 2009 at Drexel University. She currently holds credentials as a Certified Brain Injury Specialist and Certified Information and Referral Specialist for Aging and Disability. Brain injury is a major cause of death and disability in the United States. It is estimated that 5.3 million Americans are living with a disability due to traumatic brain injury (TBI) and that TBI contributes roughly to one-third of all injury-related deaths. The leading cause of TBI is falling, meaning senior citizens are especially at risk for incurring a TBI. Come and learn why it's important that you let someone know you have fallen.
