Is Pierce County ready for robots? On Sept. 26, join futurist Martin Ford, the NYT bestselling author of Rise of the Robots and Architects of Intelligence, at the Future of Work Forum in Tacoma. Local experts will share about local efforts to prepare Pierce County workers for the threats—and opportunities—of automation in the workforce. Keynote Speaker:  Martin Ford—Futurist, Speaker, New York Times Bestselling Author and Silicon Valley Entrepreneur NY Times Bestselling author and futurist Martin Ford will discuss the impacts of automation in the workplace and our future workforce. Author of Rise of the Robots (2015 Financial Times Book of the Year) and Architects of Information Ford is an expert on accelerating technology, the robot revolution and artificial intelligence. Panelists:  Jaleesa Trapp, MIT doctoral student and Tacoma STEM education advocate who helped start the Industrial Design Engineering and Art (IDEA) School Andrew Fry, Director and Lecturer at UW Tacoma, School of Engineering and Technology and chair of the South Sound Technology Conference Deborah Tuggle, founder of Bite Me Cookies, a local company that manufactures cookies for wholesale and retail distribution Ron Thalheimer, plant director at Niagara Bottling in Puyallup Carl Wenngren, Mechatronics Instructor at Clover Park Technical College Deb Curley, a Data Scientist at MultiCare Health System. She develops algorithms for machine learning models that are used to improve care and services at the organization, and has developed a data science training program for her team
