Spool Knit, Persian, and Helm Chain
Spool Knit, Persian, and Helm Chain - 4 class series! Instructor: Julia Lowther Dates: Thursdays 8/29-9/19 (4 sessions) Time: 6-9pm Ages: 18 & up Price: $200 + approx $99 kit fee to make two bracelets and a pair of earrings. Skill Level: No experience necessary. Moderate patience and hand-eye coordination required. Learn to knit fine gauge silver wire into a tube using a wooden spool and a crochet hook. A selection of pearls will be provided for you to choose from to fill your hollow bracelet. You will also learn two linked chain patterns to make Persian Chain Earrings and a Helm Chain Bracelet. Persian chain looks like a series of delicate interwoven globes, and Helm Chain is a delightfully lacy chain that can be made in either all silver rings, or with a combination of silver and anodized (colored) niobium. Pre-cut sterling rings are provided, and simple clasps and ear wires to finish the bracelets and earrings are covered, so students leave with jewelry to wear themselves or to grace a lucky gift recipient! Because such a short list of simple hand tools is required to make a very diverse selection of patterns, chain making is an ideal, and relatively portable, activity to continue enjoying long beyond the close of the class. Students are encouraged to bring favorite beads to incorporate into their work. No torch work is required for this class.
