The Art of Living Gently - Morning and Afternoon Meditation Workshops
About the Workshops Morning Workshop | Uniting Compassion with Wisdom In Buddha's teachings, compassion and wisdom are compared to two wings of a bird and, when they are joined, their combined power takes us to enlightenment. Through training in the union of compassion and wisdom, we awaken a sincere and constructive empathy toward all living beings. During this morning workshop, Gen Khedrub will teach and guide the sublime meditation practice of Buddha Avalokiteshvara, and will explain how to recite Avalokiteshvara's mantra in a way that stabilizes and nurtures the mind of compassion. Afternoon Workshop | The Three Principal Aspects of the Path In the renowned text The Three Principal Aspects of the Path, Buddhist master Je Tsongkhapa explained how to heal the mind of overt and subtle mental poisons. By engaging in the three trainings described in these teachings - renunciation, bodhichitta and wisdom realizing emptiness - we are holding the very essence of Buddhadharma in our hearts. This afternoon workshop offers the opportunity to listen to and meditate upon teachings given at the International Kadampa Fall Festival. About the Teacher Gen Kelsang Khedrub, a Western Buddhist monk, is the Resident Teacher at Kadampa Meditation Center Washington in Seattle.
